Bomb blasts hit Iraqi Shia districts, kill 9

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - At least nine people have been killed and several others wounded in a series of bomb explosions that hit Iraqi cities, security officials say.A car bomb in the Waziriyah neighborhood of Baghdad killed at least three people and injured eight others on Sunday.At least six people were killed and dozens more wounded in similar attacks in the cities of Karbala, Nasiriyah, Hilla, Basra Hafriyah, Dhi-Qar, Wasit.The attacks came a day after at least 26 people lost their lives and 45 others sustained injuries in a bomb attack in Iraq’s northern province of Nineveh.On Friday, 30 people were killed in two bomb explosions near a mosque in the northern city of Baquba.Violence has surged across Iraq in recent months, reaching its highest level since 2008.According to the United Nations, more than 800 people were killed across Iraq in various acts of terrorism in August alone.The Iraqi government says al-Qaeda-linked groups and members of the outlawed Ba’ath party are behind the surge in terrorist attacks in the country./129
